Andrew M. "Andy" Moore, age 82 of #1351 Culpepper Road, NE, Calhoun (The Everett Springs Community) died early Sunday morning, August 3rd, 2008 at the residence.
A native of Phoenix City, Alabama, Mr. Moore was born on August 23rd, 1925 the son of the late Charles and Martha Moore. He had spent most of his life in Floyd County and was a World War II and Korean veteran having served in the United States Marine Corp where he was awarded The Purple Heart and Silver Star during World War II and the Bronze Star during the Korean War. Mr. Moore was a member of the West Union Baptist Church, was a member and past commander of the McClain-Sealock Post #136 American Legion and a member of the V.F.W. of Rome. For a period of time Mr. Moore was associated with Celanese, Klopman Mills and prior to his retirement he was associated with Georgia Tufters in Calhoun, Ga. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a son, Dana Moore in 1971 and his wife, Irma Belle Miller Moore in 1997.
Survivors include 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronnie Moore of Everett Springs and Anthony and Sandra Moore of Everett Springs; 3 grandchildren, Psalmer Angon, Cassie Moore and Jessie Moore, a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Louise Moore of Canton, GA.; a sister-in-law, Mary Alice Ranson and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lamar and Carolyn Miller of Everettt Springs. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Andrew M. "Andy" Moore will be held on Wednesday afternoon, August 6th, 2008 at 3 o'clock at the West Union Baptist Church with the Rev, Jerry Brooks and Rev. Edward E. Holsomback officiating. Interment will follow in the West Union Baptist Church Cemetery with American Legion Post #112 conducting military graveside rites.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Charlie and Robert Moore, K.M. Miller, Doyle Ranson, Jeff Leatherwood and Jeff Miller.
Mr. Moore will be carried to the West Union Baptist Church on Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock where the family will receive friends from 1 until 3 o'clock.Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel has charge of the funeral arrangements for Andrew M. "Andy" Moore.
