Annie Ruth Overby

Mrs. Annie Ruth Overby, age 93, a longtime resident of Lindale, GA, passed away Friday afternoon, December 23, 2011, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Overby was born in Murray County, GA, on April 19, 1918, the daughter of the late William and Georgia Parson. She had been a resident of Floyd County the greater part of her life, was a homemaker and was of the Church of God faith. Mrs. Overby was married in 1935 to Mr. Luther Newell Overby and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2011.

Mrs. Overby is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Harold Newton of Marietta, GA; two sons and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Joan Overby of Dalton, GA, and Harold Overby of Rome. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Overby will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Miles officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Overby will remain in Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour. At other hours they will be at their respective homes.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday by 2:30 p.m. and include Jeff Overby, Gregg Overby, Harold Newton, Scott Davis, Jack Harwell and Jackie Harwell.
