Arliss Estelle Owens

Mrs. Estelle Hawkins Owens, age 86, of #75 Deason Road, Armuchee, died Monday morning, January 21st, 2008 at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, Georgia.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Owens was born on November 20th, 1921 the daughter of the late John Henry Hawkins and the late Lillian Lee Hawkins. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was a member of the Floyd Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Owens was a member of the Woman's Club in Armuchee and Canton, Georgia and served as department manager of Kessler's Department Store of Rome. Mrs. Owens was married on July 14th, 1938 to Charles C. Owens who preceded her in death in 1992.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Gerald Payne of Canton, GA. and a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Diane Owens of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Owens of Smyrna, Ga. 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Owens will be held on Thursday afternoon, January 24th, 2008 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Payne and the Rev. Dan Hyde officiating with interment to follow in East View Cemetery.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Randolf Hawkins, Chuck Bailey, Jimmy Dillard, Nobel Agan, Jr., Kelvin Owens, and Zachary Gibson.
Mrs. Owens will remain at Fred Talley's where the family will receive friends this (Wednesday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.
