Arthur B. Ritchey

Arthur B. Ritchey, age 85, of Winthrop West, 279 Technology Parkway, Rome died Wednesday morning, July 29th, 2009 at Fifth Avenue HealthCare in Rome.
A native of Rome, Mr. Ritchey was born on April 21st, 1924, the son of the late Robert E. and Myrtle Johnson Ritchey. He had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and was a highly decorated World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. Mr. Ritchey was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and prior to his retirement Mr. Ritchey was a retired supervisor with Lockheed.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Lee McClain Oswalt Ritchey to whom he was married on November 10th, 1979; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Elle Ritchey and Roger Vogel of Athens, GA.; 1 son and daughter-in-law, John Arthur Ritchey and his wife, Leah Shane Ritchey of Gaylesville, Ala.; 1 step-son and his wife, Randolph and Joyce Oswalt of Rome; 2 step-daughters, Carol Elder of Jonesboro, Ga. and Sarah Ann Brierly and her husband, Raymond Brierly of Rome; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, 1 sister, Doris Cantrell of Rome. A special nephew, Harold "Bud" Ritchey also survive as do other nephews and nieces.
Funeral services for Arthur B. Ritchey will be held on Friday afternoon, July 31st, 2009 at 3 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel with Dr. David Campbell and Rev. Jim Turrentine officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.
Mr. Ritchey will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 2 until 3 o'clock.
Family members will serve as active pallbearers.
