Betty Sue Chapman

Mrs. Betty Giles Chapman, age 73, of #1696 Floyd Springs Road, Armuchee, died Wednesday evening, March 26th, 2008 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Adairsville, GA.
A native of DeKalb County, Alabama, Mrs. Chapman was born on February 14th, 1935, the daughter of the late William J. and Allie Daniel Giles. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was a member of the Floyd Springs United Methodist Church. For a period of time Mrs. Chapman was associated with Battey Hospital and prior to her retirement served as a secretary with Hunt and Associates of Rome. Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Giles.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas "Tommy" Chapman, to whom she was married on March 7th, 1953, a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Riley Carpenter of Adairsville, GA.; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Fred and Joanne Chapman of Rome and Glen Chapman of Rome; 2 grandchildren, Clay Carpenter and his wife Misty of Rome and Casey Chapman of Rome; 2 great-grandchildren, Will and Kiley Carpenter, 3 brothers, Harley Giles of Silver Creek, Jim Giles of Rome and Bill J. Giles of Calhoun, GA. Nieces and nephews also survive as do special friends, Debbie and Megan Bailey and the late Bill Bailey.
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Giles Chapman will be held on Monday afternoon, March 31st, 2008 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Alexander and the Rev. Jody Brock officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers include Rev. Glen Clonts, Dennis Giles, Mark Chapman, Phillip Barton, Larry Perkins and Randall Gibson. Honorary pallbearers include David, Steve and Barry Barton and Brian Poore.
Mrs. Chapman will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Sunday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Riley Carpenter at #13 Cedar Way, Adairsville, Ga.
