Bud White

June 9, 1933 — August 30, 2011

Bud White, age 78, of Rome, GA., passed away on Tuesday afternoon, August 30th, 2011 at Summit Health Care of Rome.

A native of Floyd County, Mr. White was born on June 9th, 1933, the son of the late Herschel and Frances Wyley White. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Crump White in 1991, by a son, Charles "Rip" White in 2006 and by 3 brothers, Charlie, Robert and Joe White. He was a 1953 graduate of Pepperell High School where he was an avid athlete as a 4 year letterman in track, football and baseball where he was an awesome pitcher, pitching in two state championships in 1952 and 1953. He also played in the Old Textile League. Mr. White was a veteran of the United States Army where he served from 1954-1960 and a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1960 - 1964 aboard the U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Prior to his retirement Mr. White served as a State Trooper with the Georgia State Patrol from 1965 until 1988 serving as a State Trooper in Dalton was in the Cedartown barracks at the time of his retirement. Mr. White was of the Baptist faith and loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing golf and traveling to Florida.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Julie Modlin (Mark Davenport) of Rome and Jody Wallace of Lindale; granddaughters, Jordan and Lindsey Wallace of Lindale, grandsons, Taylor Modlin of Rome and Daniel White. Nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Bud White will be conducted Friday morning, September 2nd, 2011 at 11 o'clock from the graveside of Floyd Memory Gardens with the Rev. Ray Miles officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens with members of the Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard presenting honors at the graveside.

Members of the Georgia State Patrol along with John Wilkie, Joe Wilkie, Brad Langley, Patrick Langley, Adam Duke and Dylan Davenport will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. Active and honorary pallbearers are requested to meet at the graveside on Friday morning by 10:45 am.

Mr. White will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at their respective homes.
