Carolyn Eugenia Maxwell

Carolyn Tumlin Maxwell, age 77, of #1 Raspberry Road, SW, Rome, died early Friday morning, January 9th, 2009 at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Maxwell was born on November 15th 1931 the daughter of the late William C. and Jessie Lois Lumpkin Tumlin. She spent her entire life in Rome and was raised in the Celanese community. Mrs. Maxwell was a member of the West Rome Baptist Church and attended the South Broad United Methodist Church. Mrs. Maxwell was one of the founding Co-Chairmans of the Peach State Marching Festival. She loved painting, bowling and traveling. Prior to her retirement in 2006, Mrs. Maxwell had been associated with Integrated Products and Syntec Industries since 1968. She was a member of the River City Ramblers Club and the Tuesday night Ladies Bowling League. Mrs. Maxwell was married to Carey Verner Maxwell who preceded her in death on December 3rd 1992.
Survivors include a son, Bill Maxwell of Roswell, GA.; a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and George Adams of Silver Creek; two brothers, Doug Tumlin and his wife Patsy of Rome and Dr. William Tumlin and his wife Nancy of Athens, Ga. Nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of the life of Carolyn Tumlin Maxwell will be held on Sunday afternoon, January 11th, 2009 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Holt officiating with interment to follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Maxwell will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Saturday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they wil be at the home of Doug and Patsy Tumlin, at 796 Wilkerson Road in West Rome.
Chuck and Joey Tumlin, Greg and Chris Adams, Mark Mitchell and Tom Watters Jr. will serve as active pallbearers.
