Christine Matthews

Christine M. Matthews, age 68, of #5 Friar Tuck Road, Rome, (Sherwood Forest) died Friday, September 12th, 2008 at her residence.
A native of Ft. Meade, Fla. Mrs. Matthews was born on June 17th, 1940, the daughter of the late James R. and Johnny Flowers McAuley. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and attended Sherwood Forest Baptist Church. For several years Mrs. Matthews was associated with Fox Mfg. Co. and for a period of time worked with her husband at Woods Brokerage of Rome. Mrs. Matthews was married on July 30th, 1955 to James Fletcher Matthews who preceded her in death on December 22nd, 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Melody Carter of Armuchee; a son, Nathaniel Matthews of Rome; 4 grandchildren, Crystal (Andy) Murphy, April Carter, J.T. and Evelyn Matthews all of Rome. 1 sister and 3 brothers also survive. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Christine M. Matthews will be held on Monday morning, September 15th, 2008 at 11 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. Ralph Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Matthews will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Sunday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
