Clarence Gerald Smith

November 12, 1939 — July 4, 2015

Clarence Gerald Smith, age 75, of Rome, passed away on July 4, 2015. He was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was adopted by the members of the Youth Group of the church. Mr. Smith was also a member of the Brotherhood Men's Group of the church. Gerald was an independent owner operator for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents Mildred Smith and James C. Smith; two brothers, Dennis Smith and Donald Smith. Mr. Smith loved his family with all of his heart. He was an avid bird watcher and hence his constant chore of finding was to keep the squirrels out of his bird feeders.

Gerald is survived by his wife Linda Sue Smith; daughter, Susan (Tim) Lemonds; three sons, Chris (Cheryl) Smith, Ricky Smith, Jay (Briana) Smith; seven grandchildren, Derick, Meagan, Brittany, Hayden, Ashton, Malachi, Nicki; four great grandchildren, Adam Kelsey, Cooper, Kayley Rae; sister Sharon (Larry) Fleet and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 3:00 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday also with burial to follow at East View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Smith, Ricky Smith, Jay Smith, Tim Lemonds, Derick Smith, Jesse Summers, Malachi House, Hayden Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Armstrong, Thon Puryear, Glenn Davis, Donnie Hyatt and the New Antiock Baptist Church Youth Group.
