Clyde Auburn Beard

January 26, 1921 — May 29, 2007

Clyde A. Beard, age 86, of Bonney Lake, Washington, a former long time resident of Rome, died May 29th, 2007 at his residence in Bonney Lake, Washington.
A native of Gordon County, GA. Mr. Bread was born on January 26, 1921, the son of the late Lewis A. and Callie Ann Casey Beard. He had been a resident of Washington for the past 4 years moving there from Rome and was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Beard was a former long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rome and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Enumclaw, WA. He was a member and past master of the Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 F&AM of Rome, a life member of the Disabled Veterans Association and a member of the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion. Prior to his retirement Mr. Bread was associated with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in the Garden Lakes Community and a rural carrier in the Coosa Community. Mr. Beard was preceded in death by his first wife, Winnette Stimpson Beard on October 26th, 1984 and his second wife, Inez Dykes Beard in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Beard, to whom he was married to in 2002, 1 son, and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Lynda Beard of Marietta, Ga.; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Billy Connell of Rome; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 step-daughters and their husbands, Janie and Bob Hosking and Mari Lee and Dave Messner, 1 sister, Dorothy Jackson of Rome; 1 brother Lewis Beard, Jr. of Macon, Ga. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside and interment services for Mr. Beard will be held on Sunday afternoon, June 3rd, 2007, at 3:30 from the graveside of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Scott Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Billy Wilkins, Brian Connell, Ron Jackson, Dude Ayers, Chad Castoe and Mr. Beard's son, Dan Beard.
Mr. Beard will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 until 3 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, at #52 Lyons Drive, Rome.
