Delma Gean Shelton

December 30, 1933 — June 3, 2012

Delma Gean Brown Shelton, age 78, of the Bells Ferry Road, Rome, passed away on Sunday afternoon, June 3rd, 2012 at a Rome hospital.

A native of North Carolina, Mrs. Shelton was born on December 30th, 1933, the daughter of the late Thad and Fannie Mae Brown. She had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and was a homemaker. Mrs. Shelton was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Shelton on December 18th, 2010 and by a grandson, David Trent Shelton on August 1st, 2011. Mrs. Shelton was married on April 9th, 1951 to Vernon David Shelton who preceded her in death on April 1st, 2010.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Lavern and Carolyn Shelton both of Rome; 2 sons, Verneic and Roger Shelton both of Rome; 6 grandchildren, Amanda Shelton, Gabrielle Jones, Renae LeCroy, Tiffany, Fonda and Travis Shelton; 12 great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Betty Phillips of Ringgold, GA. and a brother, L.C. Brown of North Carolina. Nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services for Mrs. Shelton will held on Thursday afternoon, June 7th, 2012 at 1 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Miles officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Morning View Cemetery.

Mrs. Shelton will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock

The following will serve as active pallbearers are request to meet at the funeral home on Thursday by 12:30p.m., Travis Shelton, Brandon Pope, Robert Blackman, Jon Couch, Mark Self and Bud Self.
