Mr. Dennis Cribb, age 81, of # 52 Meadows Drive SE, Rome died Thursday morning, April 2nd, 2009 at a local hospital.
A native of Coffee County, Georgia Mr. Cribb was born on April 12th, 1927, the son of the late Preston and Loney Taylor Cribb. He had spent the great part of his life in Floyd County and attended the North Rome Church of God. Mr. Cribb was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army, where he participated in the Normandy Campaign and was awarded the European Theatre of Operation Ribbon and the Purple Heart. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Cribb was associated with Lindale Mills and was in the construction business for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Robinson Cribb to whom he was married on March 19th, 1955, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Robert Carpenter of Rockmart and Patricia and Jackie Lane of Rome; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Linda Cribb, Timmy and Sherry Robinson and Lynn and Lori Robinson all of Rome; 13 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Jeanette Meeks of Jacksonville, Florida.
Funeral services for Mr. Dennis Cribb will be held this (Saturday) afternoon, April 4th, 2009 at 2 o'clock from the graveside of Floyd Memory Gardens with Pastor Harold Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites. For those attending the services for Mr. Cribb please meet at the graveside this afternoon by 1:45 p.m.
Mr. Cribb will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family received friends on Friday evening from 7 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
