Dolly Patterson Evans Allred, age 81, of 240 First Street, Shannon, died early Tuesday morning, September 5th, 2006, at Maple Ridge HealthCare Center, Cartersville, Ga.
A native of Randolph County, Ala., Ms. Allred was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Pauline Boyd Patterson. She had spent her entire life in Floyd County and was of the Baptist faith. For a period of time Ms. Allred was associated with Celanese and Trend Mills and prior to her retirement was associated with World Carpet. Ms. Allred loved her flowers and cooking and was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and great-grandmother. Ms. Allred was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Survivors include 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Janice Evans Dodd and her husband, Bill of Shannon, Joan Evans Elliott of Charlotte, N.C. and Phyllis Evans Chandler and her husband, Louie of Woodstock, GA.; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Allan and Belinda Prance Evans of White, GA. and Dennis and Janice Dillard Evans of Rome; 11 grandchildren, Billy Dodd, Johnna Dodd Clonts, Tammie Dodd Fuller, Tina Elliott, Chris, Jeff and J.T. Chandler, Lee Evans, Sandie Evans Baxter, Brittany and Dillon Evans, 8 great-grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Ms. Allred will be held this (Thursday) afternoon, September 7th, 2006, at 2 o'clock from the graveside of Morning View Cemetery with the Rev. Mikel Garrett officiating with interment to follow in Morning View Cemetery.
Grandsons and a great-grandson will serve as active pallbearers.
Ms. Allred will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family received friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours the family will be at the home of a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Janie Evans, 652 Kerce Road, Rome.
