Dorothy Turner Wrye, age 89, of #295 Lovers Lane, Armuchee, GA. (The Everett Springs Community) passed away early Thursday morning at the residence.

Mrs. Wrye was born in Screven County, GA, on April 7, 1923, the daughter of the late Duffie Harry Turner and the late Alma Myrtle Oliver Turner. She had been a resident of Floyd County, GA, for the past 10 years moving here from Augusta, GA. Mrs. Wrye was a 1940 graduate of Millen High School and attended Georgia Technical College. Mrs. Wrye along with her late husband, mother, father, sister, and brother-in-law were charter members of the Saint Mark United Methodist Church in Augusta where her father helped build their first church buildings. At the time of her death she was a member of the Mount Tabor United Methodist Church at Everett Springs. For over 28 years Mrs. Wrye served as office manager for Gulf Life Insurance Company in Augusta. She then became manager of the B.W. Credit Union which later became Metro One Credit Union. She loved to travel, fishing and working in her flowers. The births of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-granddaughter brought her great pride. Mrs. Wrye was preceded in death in 1988 by her husband, Thurman Pate Wrye, to whom she was married on February 17, 1943.

Mrs. Wrye is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Hopper and her husband, Dr. Wayne Hopper, of Everett Springs, GA; two grandchildren, Sheri Teems and her husband, Rickey, of Armuchee, GA, and Patrick Hopper and his wife, Melissa, of Rome, GA; four great-grandchildren, Amanda Beth Teems, Richard Wayne Teems, Anna Brook Hopper an Ashley Ellen Hopper; one great-great-granddaughter and the love of her life, Emma Marie Shelton Teems. A sister, Emma Mae Norville of Augusta, also survives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wrye will be held on Sunday afternoon, April 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Mount Tabor United Methodist Church at Everett Springs with Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. Mrs. Wrye will lie in-state at the church on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.

The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers and are asked to meet at the church by 12:50 p.m. on Sunday and include Rickey Teems, Richard Teems, Jody Brock, Don Murphine, Jim Barton and Woody Ray. Ray Martin will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home in Rome.

On Monday, Mrs. Wrye will be carried to the Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Road, Augusta, GA, (706-354-8484) where the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Wrye will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Augusta with Rev. Thurmond S. Norville officiating.
