Dorothy Nell (Maples) Ramsey

Mrs. Dorothy Nell Ramsey, age 81, of Rome, GA, passed away Saturday morning, May 9, 2020, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Ramsey was born in Menlo, GA, on November 22, 1938, daughter of the late Gid Bruce Maples and Lillian Barkley Maples. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County the greater part of her life and was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church. Mrs. Ramsey received her Associates Degree in Business Administration from Southeastern Bible College. She had worked in her early years at a few positions but mostly was a housewife and homemaker. Mrs. Ramsey was married on September 15, 1967, to James William Ramsey, and he preceded her in death on November 26, 2019. Also preceding her in death was a brother, James Charles "J.C. Maples, and three sisters, Cora Lee Ensley, Pauline Carroll and Jenny Pate.

Mrs. Ramsey is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Karla and David Shore of Decatur, GA, and Rhonda and Juan Rocha of Cedartown, GA; one son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Jessica Ramsey of Cassville, GA. Eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.

In accordance with CDC guidelines funeral services for Mrs. Ramsey will be private. Interment will be in Georgia National Cemetery with her husband, James.
