Elvin Glen Elliott

August 5, 1940 — October 25, 2007

Glen Elliott, age 67, of #735 Jones Mill Road, Rome, died Sunday afternoon, October 28th, 2007 at a local hospital following a brief illness.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Elliott was born on August 5th, 1940, the son of the late Harry and Ilta Miller Elliott Stansell. He had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County, was a 1958 graduate of Armuchee High School and a member of the New Armuchee Baptist Church. Mr. Elliott served with Georgia Forestry Commission for many years, retiring in 1998 as a Chief Ranger Senior. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served as a Honor Guard and a Ceremonial Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. He also served for a period of time on the U.S.S. Conway.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Dobbs Elliott to whom he was married on February 16th, 1962, 1 son, Robert Scott Elliott of Rome; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Larry Kinsey of Armuchee; 1 half sister, Candace Oleseki of Clawson, Mich.; half brother, Skip Elliott of Juno, Alaska. 3 nieces, Allison Long, Stacy Lambert and Andrea Horn and a long time navy friend, Jan Arthur Neinrich of Tamaco, Ill. also survives.
Funeral services for Glen Elliott will be held this (Tuesday) afternoon, October 30th, 2007 at 2 o'clock at the New Armuchee Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Kelley and Rev. Edward E. Holsomback officiating. Interment will follow in the New Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Sam Lowery, Jimmy Green, John Lowery, Gene Gilbreath, Bill Smith, Bucky Jones, Ernie Pierce and Jerry Smith.
Mr. Elliott will lie-in-state at the New Armuchee Baptist Church today (Tuesday) from 1 until 2 o'clock. The family will receive friends today (Tuesday) from 1 until 2 o'clock at the church. At other hours they will be at the residence.
