Mrs. Emma Kate "Bargie" Outlaw, age 97, of 8 Heights Drive, Rome died Wednesday afternoon, September 6th, 2006, at her residence.

Mrs. Emma Kate "Bargie" Outlaw was born on June 30th, 1909 in Tyrone, Georgia, the daughter of the late Henry Joshua Barge and Roxie Elizabeth Davis Barge. Mrs. Outlaw was a long time bookkeeper for the W.T. Grant Company in downtown Atlanta where she met her late husband, Floyd Lee Outlaw. Bargie and Floyd were married on August 10th, 1946. Bargie and Floyd moved to Rome in 1949 and opened what became one of the most widely respected and successful home appliance businesses in North Georgia, Floyd Outlaw's Appliance. Bargie kept the books for the business until it was sold in the late 1980's. Bargie was a member of and attended the Second Avenue United Methodist Church where she and Floyd were actively involved. Bargie and Floyd also played significant roles and actively supported the Boy Scouts and Boys' Club of Rome. Mrs. Outlaw was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Barge and 4 brothers, Clyde Barge, Tony Barge, Sr., Otis Barge and Hewlette Barge.
Survivors include a brother, Cecil Barge of Dogwood Point, Ala.; 2 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Frances Barge of Temple, Ga. and Mrs. Virginia Barge of Sparpsburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Kate "Bargie" Outlaw will be held on Saturday morning, September 9th, 2006 at 10 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. John Barge and Dr. Paul Gamber officiating. Interment will follow Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the family lot of Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park, Georgia.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Phillip, Douglas, Alan and Curtis Barge, Curtis Marion and Phil Fowler.
Mrs. Outlaw will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours the family will be at the residence.
Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements for Mrs. Emma Kate "Bargie" Outlaw.
