Geneva Delores Carter

Geneva Delores Carter, age 79 of #505 North Fifth Avenue, Rome passed away Monday afternoon, December 6th, 2010 at a Rome hospital.

Mrs. Carter was born on August 25th, 1931 the daughter of the late Glen and Zeda Stancell Griggs. She had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and was of the Baptist Faith. For a period of time Mrs. Carter was associated with Curtains and Craft of Rome. Mrs. Carter was married on August 20th, 1945 to Charles Edward Carter who preceded her in death on September 24th, 1990.

Survivors include 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Delores Melton of Cedar Bluff, Ala. And Gloria and Nathan Thacker of Cedar Bluff, Ala.; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. Carter, Jr. and his wife, Peggy of Powder Springs, GA.; 8 grandchildren, Jeff Melton, Angela Brock, Ken Melton, Clint Thacker, Steve Carter, Donnie Melton, Gene Melton and Allyson Storie; 11 great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Glenda. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Geneva Delores Carter will be held on Thursday afternoon, December 9th, 2010 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Willingham and the Rev. Wayne Kines officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Carter will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Wednesday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.

Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
