Gordon Lee Shipp

Gordon Lee Shipp, age 61, of 3124 Cedartown Highway, Rome, died Thursday evening, December 7th, 2006 at his residence following a brief illness.
A native of Walker County, GA., Mr. Shipp was born on July 20th, 1945, the son of the late Iva L. Shipp and Mavis Smith Shipp Austin. He had spent the greater part his life in Floyd County and was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army. He attended Armuchee Church of God and for many years was associated with Good Neighbor Gas Company and was a real estate manager associated with Tillman & Associates.
Survivors include 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Kim and DeWayne Barron of Rome and Melissa Shipp of Plainville, GA.; 6 grandchildren, Miranda Williams, Kaitlynn and Laney Barron, Tyler and Destiny Shipp and Madison Jeter, 2great-grandchildren, Brandon Barron and Taylor Williams, 2 brothers, Jimmy Shipp and Charles Austin both of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Gordon Lee Shipp will be held on Monday afternoon, December 11th, 2006 at 2:30 from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Ezell officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery with the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.
Members of the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard will serve as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 1 o'clock until the funeral hour. At other hours they will be at their respective homes.
