Grady F. Ramey, age 89, of #3126 Cedartown Highway, Rome, (The Renaissance Marquis) died on Wednesday morning, October 28th, 2009 at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Ramey was born on August 19th, 1920, the son of the late Henry Grady "H.G." Ramey and the late Mattie Faye Hammond Ramey. He had spent most of his life in Floyd County and was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. Mr. Ramey was a member of the Rome Church of Christ and prior to his retirement Mr. Ramey served as regional manager for the State of Georgia Department of Revenue. He was preceded in death by 1 sister and 1 brother. Mr. Ramey was married on March 7th, 1941 to Dorothy Louise Ramey who preceded him in death on January 2005.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Juanelle Edwards of Carrollton, GA.; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Jackie Ramey of Rome and Steve and Kay Ramey of Silver Creek, GA.; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Bobby V. Ramey of LaFayette, GA. Nieces and nephew also survive.
Funeral services for Grady F. Ramey will be held on Friday afternoon, October 30th, 2009 at 2 o'clock at the Rome Church of Christ with Minister Brooks Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Greenhill Memorial Cemetery in Summerville, Georgia.
Mr. Ramey will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this Thursday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours the family will be at their respective homes.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Erik Ramey, Scott Edwards, Michael Callen, Shane Hulsey, Pete Peyton, Ben and Matt Crane.
