Harold Edward Jackson

Harold E. "Jack" Jackson, age 82, of 8 Leon Street, Rome, died Friday evening, October 13th, 2006 at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Jackson was born on May 6th, 1924, the son of the late Columbus B. and Martha E. Kinsey Jackson. He had spent his entire life in Rome and was a member of Shorter Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Jackson had received his 50 year apron from Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 F&AM where he has been a member for 60 years. He was a member of the Low 12 Club. Mr. Jackson was associated with Celanese for 24 years and prior to his retirement was associated with Star Manufacturing. Mr. Jackson was married on December 22nd, 1944 to the former Dorothy Beard who survives.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jackson, 1 daughter, Martha Barker of Rome; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, H. Wayne and Ilene Jackson of Marietta, GA. and Ronald B. and Cenie Jackson of Marietta, GA.; 4 grandchildren, Mandi Osborn, Brian and Jonathan Jackson and Tim Rogers. 6 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Harold E. "Jack" Jackson will be held on Monday afternoon, October 16th, 2006 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Cherokee Masonic Lodge # 66 A&FM conducting Masonic graveside rites. There will be a called communication of Cherokee Masonic Lodge on Monday at 1 o'clock p.m. at the lodge for the purpose of attending the funeral services for Mr. Jackson.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
Mr. Jackson will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Sunday) evening from 7 until 9 o'clock. At other hours the family will be at the residence.
