Harry Mckinley Williams

Harry McKinley Williams, age 68, of #51 Russell Drive, NE, Rome died early Monday morning, December 21st, 2009 at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Williams was born on April 18th, 1941, the son of the late McKinley B. and Mamie Worthington Williams. He had spent his entire life in Floyd County and was a member of the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church. For a number of years he was associated with Georgia Highway Express and prior to ill health he owned and operated Williams Auto Repair. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Weathers and by 2 brothers, Billy and Sam Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Boyd Williams to whom he was married on September 14th, 1963, a daughter and son-in-law, Harriett and Greg Parks of Marietta, GA.; a son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Dee Williams of Rome; 2 grandsons, Devin and Dylan Williams of Rome; 2 step-grandsons, Danny and Ryan Parks of Marietta; 2 sisters and their husbands, Emily and Elbert Roberson of Rome and Grace and Bob Holloway of Fernandina Beach, FL.; 1 brother, Charles Williams of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Mr. Williams will be held on Wednesday morning, December 23rd, 2009 at 11 o'clock at Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church with the Rev. Mac McCurry and Rev. Clyde Hampton officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Luke Studdard, Dan Ayers, Sonny Steadman, Jerry Ponder, Manford Gregory and Jerry Coffman. Bill Hopper, Lamar Whitfield and Hubert Stepp will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Williams will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Tuesday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
