Henry Edward Hardin

Henry Edward "Ed" Hardin, age 87, of Calhoun Avenue, Rome, died Wednesday afternoon, March 31st, 2010 at the residence.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Hardin was born on October 15th, 1922, the son of the late Thomas Ruel and Mary Erwin Hardin. He was a World War II and Korean veteran having served in the United States Army and the United States Marine Corp. Mr. Hardin was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was a member of Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion. For a period of time, Mr. Hardin was associated with Hardin Floor Covering of Rome and prior to his retirement was associated with the United States Post Office. Mr. Hardin was married in 1976 to Catherine Swindle Hardin who preceded him in death.
Survivors include 2 daughters and son-in-law, Mira H. and P.A. Smith of Fort Mill, S.C. and Janet Hardin Bagwell of South Georgia; grandson, G. Steven Hogue, great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Austin Hogue; several cousins, special friends George and Sarah Benham and nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Henry Edward "Ed" Hardin will be held on Saturday afternoon, April 3rd, 2010 at 3 o'clock from the graveside of East View Cemetery with Ministers, George and Sarah Benham officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.
Mr. Hardin will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:30 until 2:30.
