Hollie E Reeves

H.E. "Toonie" Reeves, age 82, of Rome, passed away on Sunday morning, August 7th, 2011 at the residence.

A native of Bartow County, Mr. Reeves was born on April 20th, 1929, the son of the late Herman Sanders Reeves and the late Ida Mae Lowery Reeves. He had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and was a member of the Hill Crest Baptist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Reeves was a weaver and also ran the Dope Wagon in the Commissary at Klopman Mills. For 23 years, Mr. Reeves owned and operated the Donut Shack of Rome and did numerous other projects through the years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Reeves.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Evelyn Stephens Reeves to whom he was married on April 16th, 1949; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Kirk Morgan of Rome; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry and Dru Reeves of Rome and Lesley Reeves of Rome; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter also survive as do a sister, Sue Patterson of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.

A celebration of the life of H.E. "Toonie" Reeves will be held on Wednesday afternoon, August 10th, 2011 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Smith and the Rev. Bobby Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in the family of Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Reeves will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, Malcolm Talley, Kirk Morgan, Steven Hightower, Eric Henry, Edwin Martin, Fred Talley and Max Broome.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contribution may be made to the Hill Crest Baptist Church Building Fund, 2202 North Broad Street, Rome, GA. 30161.
