Hollis Sherman Hufstetler

Hollis Sherman Hufstetler, age 87, of #2514 North Broad Street, Rome, Georgia, passed away Sunday morning, September 23rd, 2007 at a local after an extended illness.
Mr. Hufstetler was born on December 4th, 1919 in Bartow County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Arthur Sherman and Simmie Pendley Hufstetler. He spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and graduated from Glenwood High School. Hollis served in the United State Army Air Corps during World War II. In 1961 he founded and served as president of Air Masters Heating and Air, Inc. until his retirement. He was past president of the local CAAG organization and was a long time member of Grace Bible Church, where he served as Elder, Deacon, directed the music ministry, and served as an AWANA leader. Mr. Hufstetler was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Royce Garrett in 1950, a grandson, Jared Alford, a son-in-law, Kirk Alford, and by 2 sisters, Helen Hufstetler Clough and Dorothy Hufstetler White.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Joyce Evans, 3 daughters, Holly Eccles (Troy) of Sapulpa, OK. Jill Alford of Rome and Cherry Ertsos (Peter) of Woburn, MA.; 6 sons, Gregory Hufstetler (Jeannie) of Sellersville, PA., Steven Hufstetler (Kathy) of Allen, TX., Charles "Chuck" Hufstetler (Joan), Mark Hufstetler (Martha), Ted Hufstetler (Stacey) and Tim Hufstetler (Lori) all of Rome; 27 grandchildren, Hans, Hayley, Steven, Tyler, Caleb, Schell, Rebeckah, Jonathan, Jamison, Emily, Kaylan and Samuel Hufstetler, Cherith Mayer, Heidi Merchant, Jonathan, Erin and Micah Johnson, Nathan, Sarah and Marcus Alford, Christopher, Matthew, Joey, Katherine and David Ertsos, Leah and Chase Teague, 5 great-grandchildren, Caden Hufstetler, Abigail Mayer, Tyler, Carley and Katelynn Merchant, 1 brother, Charles Arthur Hufstetler and his wife, Joan of Simpsonville, SC.; brother-in-law, Don Evans (Ethel) of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Hollis Sherman Hufstetler will be held on Wednesday morning, September 26th, 2007 at 11 o'clock at the Grace Bible Church with Pastor Ernie Woody officiating. The burial will be in the family plot at the East View Cemetery with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites. Hollis will lie-in-state at the church on Wednesday morning from 10 until 11 o'clock.
Mr. Hufstetler's sons will serve as active pallbearers.

Mr. Hufstetler will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Tuesday) evening from 7 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
