Horace Pruitt

Horace H. Pruitt, age 92, of #376 Dry Creek Road, Haywood Valley, passed away Saturday evening, September 3rd, 2011 at a Rome hospital.

A native of Cherokee County, Alabama, Mr. Pruitt was born on November 18th, 1918, the son of the late William Edward Pruitt and the late Ollie Gann Pruitt. He had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Seniors Sunday School Class. Mr. Pruitt was associated with West Point Pepperell for 28 years and for a period of time was associated with Pharr Yarns and Continental Yarns. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson. Mr. Pruit was married on April 5th, 1948 to Bertha Mae Wilbanks Pruitt who preceded him in death on April 29th, 1993.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Tricia Pruitt of Haywood Valley; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Gene Smith of Rome and Lisa and Michael Parsons of Haywood Valley; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Horace H. Pruitt will be held on Tuesday afternoon, September 6th, 2011 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Rayford Davenport, the Rev. Tony Jackson and the Rev. Harvey Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Floyd Memory Gardens.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Pruitt will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Monday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours the family will be at the residence.
