James Benjamin Humphries

Mr. James Benjamin "J.B." (Uncle B) Humphries, Sr., passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Humphries was born in Floyd County, GA, on December 27, 1952, the son of the late James L. Humphries and Gladys Patterson Humphries. He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County all his life and was a 1972 graduate of Model High School. Prior to disability he was employed with Advanced Storage in Cedartown. Mr. Humphries was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church and East Floyd Masonic Lodge #728 F&AM where he served as Past Master. He loved hunting, fishing and coaching t-ball.

Mr. Humphries is survived by his wife of 42 years, Charlotte Justice Humphries, to whom he was married on June 25, 1972; one daughter, Wendy Wood and her husband, Hiram, of Kingston, GA; one son, James B. Humphries, Jr., and his wife, Cassie, of Rome; one sister, Edna Humphries of Kingston; one brother, William L. Humphries and his wife, Nancy, of Rome; four grandchildren, Michaella Wood, Michael Wood, Tristan Humphries and John Wayne Humphries. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Humphries will be held on Sunday afternoon, March 23, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Culberson officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. Masonic graveside rites will be administered the East Floyd Masonic Lodge #728 F&AM.

Mr. Humphries will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Saturday) evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence of the daughter, 750 Fulton Road, Kingston, GA.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Sunday by 1:30 p.m. and include Donnie Wheat, Dennis Ratliff, Jamon Wood, Bryan Clark, Will Clark and Steve Culburn.
