Janice Lou Payne

Janice L. Autry Payne, age 73, of Rome, passed away Saturday evening, October 29th, 2011 at a Rome hospital.

A native of Floyd County, Janice was born on August 5th, 1938, the daughter of Carol Lee Rhoades Autry and the late W. C. Autry. She had spent her entire life in Floyd County and was a homemaker. Janice was a graduate of Rome High School and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where was a member of the Senior Adult Choir. Janice was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion and was a member of The Clique. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vyckye Williams in 1977 and by a son, Christopher Williams in 2004. Janice was married on June 28th, 1985 to Jack Stephen Payne, Sr. who preceded her in death on March 24th, 2005.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Dana Williams of Silver Creek and Janna Leigh Ash and her husband, Don of Rome; a son, Tracy W. William (Cheryl) of Rome; her mother, Mrs. Carol Autry of Rome; 5 grandchildren, Christen Victoria Holbrook, David Holbrook II, Tracy W. Williams, Jr., Kyle S. Williams and Gracie L. Williams; 2 brothers, Gene Autry (Pat) of Rome and Michael Autry (Julie) of Marion, Ind. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Janice L. Autry Payne will be held on Wednesday afternoon, November 2nd, 2011 at 1 o'clock at Fellowship Baptist Church of Rome with Dr. Dale Levan officiating with interment to follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Janice will lie-in-state at the church on Wednesday from 12 noon until 1 o'clock.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, Gene Autry, Michael Autry, David Holbrook, II, Jerry Rhoades, Jimmie Christie and Walter Baker. Members of Clique will serve as honorary pallbearers and include, Linda Abrams, Doris Bailey, Alicia Bennett, Kayne Carter, Shelby Christie, Betty Daniel, Nancy Moore, Jo Ann Shaw, Kendra Falcitelli, Pat Autry, Judith Masters and Raynell Waters. Active and honorary pallbearers are requested to meet at Fellowship Baptist Church on Wednesday afternoon by 12:30.

Janice will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Tuesday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, Janna and Don Ash of #130 Nelson Blvd. Rome.
