Jewell Gaynell Williams

August 18, 1938 — February 21, 2011

Jewell Gayenell "Gaye" Williams, age 72 of Shannon, passed away Monday morning, February 21st, 2011 at Morning Point Assisted Living in Calhoun, Georgia.

A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Williams was born on August 18th, 1938, the daughter of the late Marion Carroll O'Neal and the late Eula Eva James O'Neal. She was a graduate of Model High School and was a member of Enon Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School. Mrs. Williams was a past secretary-treasury of the Model-Johnson Foundation and prior to her retirement was employed with the Floyd County Schools System at Model High School. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by 1 sister, Alene Evans and by 2 brothers, Junior and Eugene O'Neal. Mrs. Williams was married on July 13th, 1956 to Edward Lamar Williams who preceded her in death in 2004.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Trina Williams of Calhoun, GA.; a granddaughter, Kersten Williams and a grandson, Jacob Williams; 5 sisters, Dorothy Hootman, Goose Bay, Oregon, Louise Rutledge of Calhoun, Pearlie Barton, of Rome, Mae Johnson of Rome and Pat Lowe of Prospect, KY.; 1 brother, Leon O'Neal of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Jewell Gayenell "Gaye" Williams will be held on Thursday afternoon, February 24th, 2011 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Thurman Moore and Dr. Ralph Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family received friends this (Wednesday) evening from 5 until 9 o'clock.
