Kathleen Mae Andrews Smith, age 85, of Merrill Gardens, Rome, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday morning, October 4th, 2006.
Mrs. Smith was born on October 29th, 1920 in Kingston, GA. the daughter of the late Ernest M. and Ada P. Andrews. She was a long time member of the North Rome United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the Sanctuary choir and was a member of W.S.C.S and loved providing a Christian home for her family. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Lady Marion Homemakers Club of Floyd County for many years where she loved compiling cookbooks. Mrs. Smith enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States with her late husband including Alaska and Hawaii and also traveled with friends and family throughout Europe. Mrs. Smith had many friends and loved people, especially her family and her friends at Merrill Gardens where she had lived for 6 years. Two of her greatest loves were reading and bible study. Kathleen has joined her sister, Mattie B. Malone and a host of other relatives and friends. Kathleen has also joined her husband, Homer L. Smith, Jr. to whom she was married on July 3rd, 1942 and preceded her in death on April 12th, 2004.
Waiting to be with her one day are 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Ernest L. and Mary Shotwell Smith of Rome and Thomas B. Smith of Coppell, TX.; a daughter and son-in-law, Roseanne and Larry Brasington of Powder Springs, GA.; 7 grandchildren, Sarah Brasington, Cassie Smith, Ruth Anne Phillips Smith, Joy Casillas, Lynne Brasington, Andrew Smith and Patrick Smith, 6 great-grandchildren, Keipris, Caleb, Elijah Smith, Lisette, Lynette and Amanda Casillas. 1 sister, Louise Andrews of Rome, a brother-in-law, Jack Malone of Kingston and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Kathleen Mae Andrews Smith will be conducted on Saturday morning, October 7th, 2006 at 11 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. David McKenzie, Rev. Norv Havens and Don Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be, Lynn Brasington, Andrew Smith, Patrick Smith and nephew, Guy Malone.
Mrs. Smith will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:30 until 11 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the home of a son and daughter-in-law, Ernest L. and Mary Shotwell Smith, 368 Turner Chapel Road, Rome.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to North Rome United Methodist Church, 413 Perkins Street, Rome, Georgia 30161.
