Kurt Carson Bishop, age 20, of #255 Potts Road, Kingston, died Saturday , June 30th, 2007 at the DeKalb Medical Center in Ft. Payne, Alabama from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
A native of Floyd County, Kurt was born on August 15th, 1986, the son of Ralph and Rita Lynn Wilkey Bishop. Kurt had spent his entire life in Floyd County and was a member of the Sherwood Forest Baptist Church. He was a 2004 graduate of Model High School and a 2006 graduate of Southeastern Technical College in Americus, Georgia. Kurt was associated with Central Electric of Rome. Kurt always smiled, loved snowboarding, wakeboarding, skiing, hunting, playing the guitar, loved riding motorcycles and loved life. He loved friends, family and loved being an uncle. Kurt loved working with his hands. Kurt was preceded in death by a grandmother, Elsie Wilkey, a grandfather, Bob Bishop, a step-grandfather, Jim Anderson and an uncle, Ricky Wilkey.
Survivors include his parents, Rome City Police Captain Ralph Bishop and Lynn Bishop of Rome; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Jeffery Ralph Bishop, his wife, Heather and their son, Cole and Russell Cameron "Rusty" Bishop all of Rome; a sister and brother-in-law, Misty and Daniel Drake and their 2 daughters, Olivia and Sophie all of Rome; a grandmother, Bernice Couey Bishop of Rome; a grandfather, Bill Wilkey of Calhoun, GA.; an uncle, Ronnie Bishop of Rome; an aunt, Karen Wilkey Nolyn and her husband, Jeff of Calhoun; 2 cousins, Davis and Trent Wilkey of Calhoun. Other survivors include Deb Cherry and Artie Guffie.
Funeral services for Kurt Carson Bishop will be held on Tuesday morning, July 3rd, 2007 at 11 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. Ralph Jenkins and Dr. Mark Cosby officiating.
Kurt will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Monday) evening from 6 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
