Levoin Stephens Dickson

April 1, 1938 — January 18, 2023

LeVoin Stephens Dickson, age 84, of Rome, GA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Dickson was born on April 1, 1938, in Ellaville, GA, to her late parents, Grover and Edna Brewer Stephens. She graduated from Stone Mountain High School in 1956. LeVoin was a secretary at The Woodman Company in Decatur, GA. She was a real beauty, modeling for many of their print advertisements. In 1961, she began dating a coworker named Paul whom she married in 1963.

In 1964, they moved to Taylors, SC, where they remained and raised two daughters. They were active members of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church where LeVoin sang in the choir for many years. LeVoin served her community in many ways. She was a school crossing guard. She volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels. She also later worked caring for the elderly in their homes all over Greenville.

In 1988, they moved to Birmingham, AL, where they would live until 2021. They were active members of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, then Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church. LeVoin delighted in her two granddaughters who lived locally. She was a joyful supporter of their dance recitals and choir concerts. LeVoin enjoyed the adventure of traveling across the country and overseas to visit her two grandsons as they moved during their father’s naval career.

In 2021, LeVoin and Paul moved to Rome, GA to be close to family.

Mrs. Dickson is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Paul B. Dickson, Jr. of Rome, GA; daughter, Cathy Gartman and her husband Todd of Rome, GA; daughter, Sheila Clapperton and her husband Craig of Annapolis, MD; granddaughters, Grace Gartman and Meredith Coryell (Zack) of Pittsburgh, PA; grandsons Cole & Grayson Clapperton of Annapolis, MD; brothers, Jimmy Stephens (Frances) of Monticello, GA; Larry Stephens (Judy) of St. Petersburg, FL; and her sister, Peggy Cocroft Kerr (Roger) of Conyers, GA.
