Lula Irene Gravitte

Lula Irene Gravitte, age 91, of 499 McGrady Road, Rome, and a long time of Everett Springs and Armuchee, died Friday evening, August 10th, 2007 at a local hospital.
A native of Bartow County, Mrs. Gravitte was born on August 5th, 1916, the daughter of the late Horace and Martha Kilgore Lockridge. She had spent most of her life in Floyd County, was a homemaker and was a member of the Everett Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Gravitte was preceded in death by 2 sons, Donald and Horace Gravitte. Mrs. Gravitte was married in 1932 to Edward Leon "Ed" Gravitte who preceded her in death in 1986.
Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Melvin Kinsey of Armuchee and Irene and Russell Hicks of Resaca, GA.; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Dewey and Gail Gravitte of Rosedale and J.W. Gravitte of Everett Springs; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren 1 great-great-grandson also survive as do a sister, Odell McCamey of Calhoun; 2 brothers, James Ghorley of Marietta, GA. and Ben Ghorley of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Lula Irene Gravitte will be held on Monday morning, August 13th, 2007 at 10 o'clock at the Everett Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward E. Holsomback officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Everett Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Gravitte will lie-in-state at the church on Monday morning from 9 until 10 o'clock.
Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
Mrs. Gravitte will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Sunday) evening from 5 until 7 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
