9Marilyn Andrews Elrod, age 64, of 17 Graben Drive, Rome, Beech Creek, died Tuesday morning, December 5th, 2006, at her residence.
A native of Dade County, Fla., Mrs. Elrod was born on August 9th, 1942, the daughter of the late Howard C. and Iletta Atkinson Rhodes. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd and Bartow Counties and was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church of Rome. Mrs. Elrod was a member of the Women of Georgia Power. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Elrod was associated with Georgia Power Company and the Floyd County Board of Education. Mrs. Elrod's concern was helping other people especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved crafts. Mrs. Elrod was preceded in death by sisters, Bessie Bishop and Dorothy Hagler, and by her first husband and the father of her children, Ronnie W. Andrews, Sr. and by her second husband, Elton Matthew Elrod.
Survivors included 3 daughters and a son-in-law, Tammy and James Mahoney of Cartersville, Laura Adkins and Amanda Andrews both of Rome; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Teffani Andrews of Rome; 10 grandchildren, Misty Andrews, Jessica Minter, James Mahoney, III, Jake Sharpe, Andrew Sharpe, Emily Bennett, Jill Elrod, Justin Andrews, Kristen Andrews and Branden Andrews, 4 great-grandchildren, Christopher Stancell, A.J. Andrews, Macie Minter and Madeline Minter, 3 sisters, Juanita Aultman of Minn., Viola Lance and Liz Engle both of Rome; 1 brother, Howard C. Rhodes of Rome. Special friends, Christine Lewis Rhodes, Marie and A.J. Corbin, Scott Allison, Deborah Burton, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Marilyn Andrews Elrod will be held on Saturday afternoon, December 9th, 2006, at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Evans officiating with interment to follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Joe Engle, Howard Rhodes, Jake Sharpe, Andrew Sharpe, James Mahoney, III, and Tim Bennett. Timothy Minter will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
Fred Talley and the staff of Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home, Rome, is serving the family of Marilyn Andrews Elrod.
