Martha Faye Martin

Martha Faye White Martin, age 84, of Trillum Trail, Rome, passed away Wednesday morning, November 10th, 2010 at a Rome hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Martin was born on July 25th, 1926, the daughter of the late James C. and Gladys Johnson White. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and attended Rome Girls High. Mrs. Martin was a founding member of the Northwood Baptist Church where she served as piano player. For a period of time Mrs. Martin was associated with Celmor. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Frankie Selman in 2007 and infant daughter, Celesta Martin, by 2 sisters, Jimmie Nell Baker and Patricia Robinson. Mrs. Martin was married on February 28th, 1943 to Harold Franklin Martin who preceded her in death on April 24th, 1993.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Doug Thacker of Rome; 8 grandchildren, Tim Brown, Jimmy Selman, Kimberly Lewis, Johnny Selman, Tonya Jones, Jennifer Potter, Heather Benard and Erica Thacker; 16 great-grandchildren also survive as do 5 sisters, Mary Grace Meeks of Rome, Jane Doss of Chatsworth, GA., Sue Bradley of Soddy Daisy, TN., Dorothy Howell of Rome and Evelyn Dodd of Cartersville, GA.; 1 brother, Tommy White of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will be held this (Friday) afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Northwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Culberson and the Rev. Cary Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Martin will lie-in-state at the church today from 12 noon until 1 o'clock.
Great grandson and grandsons-in-law will serve as active pallbearers.
Mrs. Martin will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family received friends on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Doug Thacker at #1019 East Hermitage Road, Rome.
