Martha Jane Dempsey

Mrs. Martha Jane Boggs Dempsey, age 83, of #9 Indian Trace Drive, NE, Rome, died Wednesday morning, January 24th, 2007 at her residence.
A native of Decatur, Alabama, Mrs. Dempsey was born on March 18th, 1923, the daughter of the late John G. and Victoria Epperson Marshall Boggs. She had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and was a member of the Silver Creek Presbyterian Church. For a period of time Mrs. Dempsey was associated with Wyatts of Rome and was co-owner of World Travel Agency. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister. Mrs. Dempsey was married on July 18th, 1941 to Dallas W. Dempsey who preceded her in death on May 22nd, 1999.
Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Greg Thompson of Calhoun and Denise and Danny Hutchins of Rome; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Marshall and Lucy Dempsey of Rome; 6 grandchildren, NaDee Bryant, B.J. Dempsey, Kim Russell, Kelley Bennett, Ryan and Ken Hutchins, 3 step-grandchildren, Brian Dempsey, Greg Thompson, Jr. and Matt Thompson, 7 great-grandchildren, Lindsey Kerce, Kaley Bryant, Eden and Dallas Russell, Dylan Hutchins, Jack and Finnley Bennett, 6 step-great-grandchildren, Trey and Ansley Thompson, Audrey and Will Stargell, Keith and Heather Dempsey, a sister-in-law and her husband, Mary and Howard Kerce of Madison, Miss. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Jane Boggs Dempsey will be held on Saturday afternoon, January 27th, 2007, at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Foley officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Ryan, Ken and Dylan Hutchins, Steve Bryant, Greg Thompson, Jr. and Paul Bennett.
Mrs. Dempsey will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
