Mary Alice Ransom

Mary Alice Miller Ransom, age 88, of the Floyd Springs Road, Armuchee, passed away Saturday, November 12th, 2011 at Fifth Avenue Health Care of Rome.

A native of Gordon County, Georgia, Mrs. Ransom was born on July 17th, 1923, the daughter of the late Jesse William Miller and the late May Elizabeth King Miller. Mrs. Ransom was a member of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church at Everett Springs, was a homemaker and a seamstress having been associated for a period of time with Belk's of Rome. She was preceded in death by a son, Freddie Ransom in 2004 and by a daughter, Ilene Woodfin in 2009. Mrs. Ransom was married on October 21st, 1942 to Alfred Morland Ransom who preceded her in death in 1981.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Maryland and Jackie Sharpe of Everett Springs; a son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Sandra Ransom of Griffin, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, Lamar and Carolyn Miller of Everett Springs; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Smith Ransom of Rome and a son-in-law, Dwight Woodfin of Rome. 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ransom will be held this (Tuesday) afternoon, November 15th, 2011, at 1 o'clock at the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church at Everett Springs with the Rev. Wayne Hopper and the Rev. Brian Smith officiating with interment to follow in the family lot of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Ransom will lie-in-state at the church this (Tuesday) from 12 until 1 o'clock p.m.

Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.

The family will received friends at the funeral home this (Monday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.
