Mary Elizabeth White

Mary Elizabeth White, age 93, of the Burnett Ferry Road, West Rome, died Wednesday afternoon, July 7, 2010 at a local hospital.

A native of Gordon County, Mrs. White was born on January 26, 1917, the daughter of the late William Henry Miller and Mary Ann Carney Miller. Mrs. White spent the greater part of her life in Rome and was a member of the Hill Crest Baptist Church and a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Prior to her retirement Mrs. White was associated with the Champion Garment Company for several years. Mrs. White was preceded in death by a brother; Herbert E. Miller and by two sisters; Dealva Winkle and Zula Goss and by several half sisters and brothers.

Survivors include a daughter; Sue White of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services for Mary Elizabeth White will be held Saturday morning, June 10, 2010 at 11 am at the Hill Crest Baptist Church with Reverend Clyde Wilson and the Reverend Stanley Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery at Rosedale.

The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 9:30 until 11am at Hill Crest Baptist Church. At other hours the family will be at the residence.

Active and honorary pallbearers will be nephews and members of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and the Senior Men's Sunday School Class are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Hill Crest Baptist Church building fund, 2202 North Broad Street, Rome, GA. 30161.
