Mattie Mae Canada

Mattie Mae Canada, age 77, of the New Calhoun Highway, Adairsville, passed away early Monday morning, January 31st, 2011 at a Rome hospital.

A native of Floyd County, Mattie was born on February 9th, 1933 the daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Barton Morrison. She had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and was a member of the Beech Creek United Methodist Church. Mattie and her late husband, Arthur Canada owned and operated Canada Grocery on Redmond Road in Rome from 1965 until 1985. Mattie was a faithful co-worker with Fred Talley and staff at Parkview Chapel Funeral Home for many years. Mattie was married to Arthur Canada who preceded her in death in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Bruce Shuler of Adairsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Pam Canada of Rome; 2 grandchildren, Jeremy Shuler and his wife, Jordon of Adairsville and Holly Canada Marks and her husband, Adrian of Rome; 2 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Shuler and Jacob Shuler; 1 sister Kay Little of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Canada will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. Robert V. Ozment officiating with interment to follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, Bruce and Jeremy Shuler, Adrian Marks, Floyd Ozment, Donnie Canada and Fred Talley.

The family received friends at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Bruce Shuler at #8274 New Calhoun Highway, Adairsville.
