Norma Dean Atkins

Norma Dean Atkins, age 78, of #8 Foster Avenue, NE, Rome, passed away on Sunday morning, May 8th, 2011 at a local hospital.

A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Atkins was born on September 18th, 1932, the daughter of the late Henry Harrison Gentry and the late Dollie Ruth Castleberry Gentry. She was a life long resident of Floyd County, was a 1949 graduate of Armuchee High School and was a homemaker. Mrs. Atkins was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, being a member of the East Rome congregation.

Survivors include her husband, Albert Donald Atkins to whom she married in December 1966; 3 daughters, Wanda Sue Cook and Brenda Morales both of Rome and Annette Hooper of Piedmont Ala.; 3 sons, Hershel Robert Terrell of Tallahassee, Fla., Steve Lamar Atkins of Oglethorpe, GA. and Ronald H. Atkins of Centre, Ala.; Also surviving are several grandchildren which include, Sherri Lee Sullins, Terry Michael Coffia and Sandy Massingill, several great grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Atkins will be held on Wednesday morning, May 11th, 2011 at 11 o'clock from the graveside of Floyd Memory Gardens with Allen Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Floyd Memory Gardens. For those attending the graveside services for Mrs. Atkins please meet at the graveside by 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Atkins will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Tuesday) evening beginning at 5 o'clock.

A memorial service for Mrs. Atkins will be held on Wednesday evening, May 11th, 2011 at 7 o'clock at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at #2527 Cedartown Highway, Rome, with Gary Greenwell and Grady Stewart officiating.
