Patricia Joanne Chapman

Mrs. Joanne Corbin Chapman, age 55, of #2072 New Rosedale Road, Rome, died Thursday afternoon, June 10th, 2010 from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Mrs. Chapman was born in Floyd County on August 8, 1954, the daughter of John Warren Corbin and the late Edna Jo Gallman Corbin. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County all her life and was a 1972 graduate of Armuchee High School. For a period of time Mrs. Chapman was associated with Riverside Chevrolet but in recent years, she was a housewife and homemaker. She was a member of the Armuchee Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and often taught Children's Church. Mrs. Chapman always cared for others and loved working with her flowers and water garden. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by a brother, John Wayne Corbin.

Mrs. Chapman is survived by her husband, William Fred Chapman, to whom she was married on May 22, 1993; a step-daughter, Casey Burke of Goldsboro, SC; her father, Warren Corbin of Summerville, GA.; two sisters, Glennice (Johnny) Parker and Judy (Jimmy) Plemons, all of Rome; three brothers, Eddie (Sandra) Corbin and Ricky (Darrylene) Corbin, all of Rome, and Edward (Jackie) Corbin of Los Angeles, CA; one sister-in-law, Patsy Corbin of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Chapman will be this (Sunday) afternoon at 3 o'clock at Armuchee Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Clonts and the Rev. Jody Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Chapman will lie-in-state at the church where the family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church by 2:30 p.m. and include Adam Corbin, Ben Corbin, Rodney Corbin, Michael Corbin, Clay Carpenter and Brad Plemons. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Burk, Andrew Burk, Cole Arasmith, Luke Arasmith, Will Carpenter and Sam Corbin.
