Phillip David Chunky Smith

Phillip David "Chunky" Smith, age 57, of Rome, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019.

Phil was born in Leominster, MA, on May 5, 1962, a son of Elmer David and Maurine Tribble Smith. He had lived the greater part of his life in Rome and Floyd County and was a member of Dykes Creek Baptist Church. "Chunky" was associated Gerdau Ameristeel of Cartersville. He was an avid cyclist and loved spending time with family.

Phil is survived by his wife, Sherry Miles Smith, whom he married May 1, 1999; one daughter, Dakotah Smith; three sons, Jessie Kennedy, Jeffrey Kennedy and Dustin Smith; parents, Elmer David and Maurine Smith; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Randy Holbert, and Terri and Edwin Ainsworth; one brother, Ricky Smith. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends survive.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday afternoon, May 10, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Salmon Funeral Home with Pastor Mikel Garrett officiating.

Phils family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
