Rachel Williams Bray

Rachel Williams Bray, age 85, of Rome died Sunday evening, April 12th, 2010 at Fifth Avenue HealthCare.

A native of Jackson County, Georgia, Mrs. Bray was born on December 22nd, 1924, but had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and was a member of the East Calhoun Church of God. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Bray was associated with Floyd Medical Center for 30 years. Mrs. Bray was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William "Bill" Bray and by a son, Lt. J.G. John David Gollahon who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Joe Bleckley of Duluth, GA.; a son and daughter-in-law. Donald and Sharon Gollahon of Rome; 3 grandchildren, Kimberly Ruggles of Cartersville, GA. Shane Dial of Franklin, Tenn. and David Gollahon of Dawsonville, GA. 6 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Ed Rayburn also survives.

Funeral services for Rachel Williams Bray will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon, April 14th, 2010 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Murdock officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.

Mrs. Bray will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Wednesday) afternoon from 1 until 2 o'clock.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, Joe Bleckley, Terry Owens, Eric Ruggles, Jim Meadows, Ray Terry and Shane Dial.
