Ricky Conner Highfield

Mr. Ricky Conner Highfield, age 53, of 121 Margo Trail, Rome, GA, died Wednesday evening, November 30, 2011, in a local hospital.

Mr. Highfield was born in Cherokee County, AL, on September 23, 1958, the son of Joyce Bowman Highfield and the late John Highfield. He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of his life and was a member of the North Rome Church of God. Mr. Highfield retired in 2010 after 30 years of service with the State of Georgia as a caseworker and at the time of his death was associated with Three Rivers Behavioral Center. He was a CPR and First Aid instructor and a foster parent. Mr. Highfield loved the outdoors, was an animal lover, was always giving of himself to other and most of all was a family man.

Mr. Highfield is survived by his wife, Diane Peace Highfield, to whom he was married on June 6, 1987; two children, James and Patricia Highfield; mother, Joyce Bowman Highfield of Centre, AL; three brothers, Johnny (Tanni) Highfield, David (Leslie) Highfield and Sammy (Terina) Highfield, all of Centre. A special sister-in-law, Martha (Hugh) Sheffield of Rome, and a brother-in-law, Dennis Peace of Rome, along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Highfield will be held on Saturday morning, December 3rd, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Monty Stallings officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Highfield will remain in Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Saturday by 10:30 a.m. and include Hugh Sheffield, Keith Sheffield Collin Sheffield, Dennis Peace, Danny Peace and Eric Plants.
