Mr. Robert E. "Bob" Bishop, Sr., age 81, of Nan Lee Drive, Rome, GA, died Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Golden Living Center of Rome.

Mr. Bishop was born in Cherokee County, AL, on February 13, 1931, the son of the late Donald Joseph Bishop and the late Ellie Hunt Bishop. He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of his life and was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ. Mr. Bishop was a graduate of McHenry High School and was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the United States Navy. Prior to retirement he was associated with Georgia Kraft for 42 years.

Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, Betty Quinton Bishop, to whom he was married on April 3, 1950; one daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and Chris Gray, of Calhoun, GA; two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert E. "Bobby" Bishop, Jr. of Rome, and David and Lisa Bishop, also of Rome; five grandchildren, Robert E. Bishop, III, Morgan Bishop, Caitlin Gray, Christopher Gray and Johnathan Gray. A brother, Ray Bishop, of Piedmont, AL, also survives as do nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Bishop will be held this (Monday) afternoon at 3:00 p.m. from Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Minister Joey Haynes. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Bishop will remain in Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Monday) from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. At other hours they will be at the residence on Nan Lee Drive.

Pallbearers will include, David Loftin, Lonnie Bowman, Buddy Dunervill, Ted Goss and Larry Boatner.
