Robert Lewis Jones

Robert L. "Bobby" Jones, age 72, of #1396 Old Dalton Road NE, Rome, died Sunday evening, January 20th, 2008 at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Jones was born on May 3rd. 1935, the son of the late Joel Clifford Jones and the late Velma Harris Jones. He had spent his entire life in Floyd County and was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Prior to his retirement in 1990 he was associated with General Electric for 37 years retiring as a computer analysis. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth J. Matthews and a son, Michael E. Baily.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Akins Jones to whom he was married on April 25th, 1981, 1 daughter, Pamela Head of Rome; 4 sons, Robert "Mac" Jones of Woodstock, GA., Thomas Joseph Jones and his wife, Kathleen of Rome, Steve Baily of Rome and Charles W. "Bill" Jones of Rome; 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren survive, a brother, William H. "Bill" Jones of Lexington, S.C., a sister-in-law, Pat Akins of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Robert L. "Bobby" Jones will be held on Wednesday afternoon, January 23rd, 2008 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Austin Goggins and the Rev. Clay Settle officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers include, Mac Jones, T.J. Jones, Mike Harris, Bill Jones, Larry "Bo" Barnett and Bill Smith. Honorary pallbearers will include Jerry Smith, Josh Jones, Ethan "BooBoo" Edwards, Clay Settle, Chris and Anthony Jones.
Mr. Jones will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Tuesday) evening from 7 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
