Sam Diprima, Jr., age 86, of 225 Duggar Drive, NE, Rome, long time owner and operator of Diprima's Steak House died Wednesday evening, August 22nd, 2007, at his residence.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Diprima was born on May 6th, 1921, the son of the late Sam Diprima, Sr. and the late Ivie Jones Diprima. He had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and Floyd County and was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. Mr. Diprima was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Rome and a member of Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion. Mr. Diprima was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Diprima and by 3 brothers, Charlie Diprima, Sr., Nino Diprima and Romeo J. Diprima. Mr. Diprima was married on April 1st, 1939 to Alva Ed Smith Diprima who preceded him in death on September 18th, 2000.
Survivors include 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Diprima of Rome and Sam Diprima III and his wife Willie Diprima of Gassville, Arkansas; 4 grandchildren, Stephen Diprima, Ann Marie Brown, Samuel Scott Diprima and Kathryn Michelle Pierce, 8 great-grandchildren survive as do a sister Madeline Perron of St. Paul, Minn. and a brother, Lewis J. Diprima of Calhoun, GA. Nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of life for Sam Diprima, Jr. will be held on Saturday afternoon, August 25th, 2007 at 2 o'clock from the graveside of East View Cemetery with Father James A. Miceli officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion Honor Guard. Following a White Dove Release at the graveside interment will follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contribution may be made to the Georgia Chapter Alzheimer's Association, 855 Abutment Road, Suite 6, Dalton, Georgia 30721.
Mr. Diprima will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 7 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
