Samuel Milton Broome

Samuel Milton "Sam" Broome, age 65, of Summerville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday morning, January 9th, 2013 at a Rome hospital.

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mr. Broome was born on May 4th, 1947, the son of the late Samuel Waldo Broome and the late Helen Louise McGee Broome. He had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and Summerville and was a Vietnam veteran having served in the United States Marine Corp. Sam was of the Baptist faith, was a member of the Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 F&AM and was a member of the Low 12 Club. For many years Sam was in automobile sales and the construction business.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Elizabeth Stringer Broome to whom he was married on April 17th, 1971; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Christine Oakes and her husband, James of Summerville, GA. and Patricia Lynn Furgerson and her husband, Travis of Sylvania, Ala.; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Steven Broome and his wife, Heather of Atlanta, GA. 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Billie Louise Ensminger of Southport, N.C.; 2 brothers, Timothy Edward Broome of Ludowici, GA. and Steven Ashby Broome of Summerville, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Sandra Earwood and her husband, Jeff and their son, Jeremy of Rome; Special friends of the family, Sarah Moye and Dianne Smithson. Nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life Service for Samuel Milton "Sam" Broome will be held this (Saturday) afternoon, January 12th, 2013 at 3 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion Honor Guard conducting military rites.

The family will receive friends this (Saturday) afternoon from 2 until 3 o'clock at the funeral home.
