Sara Mae Tolbert

Sara M. "Bobbie" Tolbert, age 81, of #151 North Avery Road, NW, Rome, passed away on Monday morning, March 14th, 2011 at a Rome hospital.

A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Tolbert was born on May 21st, 1929, the daughter of the late Luther and Sarah Mann Montgomery. She was a lifelong resident of Floyd County, was a homemaker and was a member of the Beech Creek United Methodist Church. Prior to her retirement in 1984, Mrs. Tolbert was associated with Redmond Regional Medical Center for 10 years in Sterile Supply Department. "Nanny" loved cooking for her family and friends and "Nanny's" grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a very, very special part of her life. NANNY LOVED THE FLOWERS, ESPECIALLY THE ROSES, THAT JESSE GREW FOR HER. She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Jackson.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse D. Tolbert to whom she was married on January 6th, 1947; a daughter, Rita T. Talley of Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Lisa Tolbert of Rome; 2 granddaughters, Allison Talley Holcomb and her husband, Shawn of Rome and Jill McGill and her husband Eugene of Rome; 7 great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister Geneva Hassler of Rome.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tolbert will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon, March 16th, 2011 at 2 o'clock at the Beech Creek United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Ozment and the Rev. Don Peace officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, Shawn Holcomb, Eugene McGill, Hoyt Tolbert, Benny Smith, Fred Talley, Jon Wood and Rob Smith.

The family will receive friends at the Beech Creek United Methodist Church this (Wednesday) afternoon from 1 until 2 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
