Sheila Marie Mckinney

November 3, 1941 — March 29, 2009

Sheila Marie McKinney, age 67, of #640 Elliott Drive Rome, died Sunday evening March 29th 2009 at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. McKinney was born on November 3rd, 1941, the daughter of the late J.T. and Dorothy Worthington Helms. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was of the Church of God faith. Prior to her retirement Mrs. McKinney was associated with Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital for several years. Mrs. McKinney was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #52 and enjoyed playing bingo. Mrs. McKinney was married to Lucian Arthur "L.A." McKinney who preceded her in death on February 22nd, 2007.

Survivors include a daughter; Jada Tate of Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Robin Long of Rome; 4 grandchildren, Crystal Carlock, John "J.T."Tate Jr., Jacob and Michael Peschel, 3 great-grandchildren, Mercedes Carlock, Dakota Carlock and Jocelyn Tate, a sister, Sandra Bell of Rome. A niece, Lori Holloway and 2 nephews, Chris and David Stansell also survive.

Funeral services for Sheila Marie McKinney will be held on Thursday afternoon, April 2nd, 2009 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Dowdy officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The following will serve as active pallbearers: John Tate, Michael McPherson, Mike Freeman, Shawn and David Stansell, Chad Cline and Steve Holloway.

Mrs. McKinney will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Wednesday) evening from 7 until 9 o'clock.
